2020 Pameran Poskad Ballerina Artwork

 I am open to LGBT and gender diversity. Unfortunately this artwork was disallowed in the exhibition not because of the LGBT theme but due to safety concerns of sharp object.

 

Pameran Poskad 2020 : Preperation for Submission of Heart Egg

Lexicon : My image of the heart is not heart shaped but an egg shaped. It is hollow for the owner just to put only one precious thing inside it. Once the thing is inside , it gives birth to the bountiful of emotions and reactions related to it.

The reference was from Pirates of the Caribbean , Davy Jones placed his precious heart locked in the treasure chest. Whoever holds the key to the lock , holds key to Davy Jones life. 

But what if the heart itself is the box , it is hollow and long for one precious thing to be put inside.....

How to Cut an Egg ?

 

I bought an egg holder and needle files to attempt to file the egg. Fail!

I used an mini grinder attached to a mini circular saw to cut it . Failed!

Finally sawing an egg works with a lot of patience. Success! 

Floating Egg 

I did not imagine the egg floated away like in reality when I poured resin.  It came as a surprise to me. 

 I sketched up some ideas to prevent the egg from floating away.

Eventually all I have to do is just the glue the egg shell to the base of the container.

I poured the resin into two containers for two half of the egg shells and prayed that both would eventually fit and match nicely as I have imagined.

Well i intentionally made a slide mismatch on the external container to match the top and bottom egg shell.

 

 The resin was stuck to the container and therefore it too became part of the design.

Pameran Poskad 2022 ION Orchard Gallery

  Lexicon : Visual art is a medium for personal language that the artist chooses to convey to himself / herself in the artwork and once produced , can be used as a means of communication to others through storytelling of the piece.

 

The Pameran Poskad Exhibition is held once every two years, open to the public, local and international , young and old , artist or amateur , interested to express himself , herself in small post card size paper works or objects that can fit into the plastic sleeve provided.

 

 

This year I did not join. And this year the exhibition rules are a little different. The buyers are allowed to bring back the artworks once purchased. In previous exhibitions , artworks can only be collected on the last day of the exhibition. 

This spells great news for the buyer as they bought the artwork at the condition they are in. If they collect later , they run the risk of damaged goods. 

This arrangement is great for organizers in terms of logistics, they do not need to arrange and remind buyers for collection. 

This might not be good news for artists as artworks bought on the first day disappear from the gallery for others to view.

Kelvin Atmadibrata

 Kelvin's work appeal to me, it seems like a research study, exploratory form , a work in process. The gestural symbolism , is at once playful and a unique subject , the full meaning is only apparent to the artist himself.
